Regional Media Art Show!

In a previous post I had mentioned that one of my photographs had won 2nd place in an art show. So last night, I attended the award reception. It was very nicely done, the exhibits were organized, all of the art was steller. I have never been so inspired in my life! In totals, thirteen schools participated, so the work was very diversified.

But I'm not gonna lie, seeing your work published/displayed/recognized makes for awesome feelings

This is the picture that won 1st place in my category. It's totally sick.

 I'm not downloading until after SAT is over. I'm sure it's great anyways.

 I've given up music as well as facebook (inser epic withdrawal here) so that I won't be distracted from studying.

Anyways today was a more fun day. I went bowling in gym class: 3 games for for two dollars = awesome deal. My highest score was a 68. Last time my lowest game was a 36, so I'm improving haha.

In advisory my teacher gave me and some of the other girls in my advisory this scarf from the Haitian dance teacher because we gave up lunch before the Cultural Fair to help her. She's so sweet!

AND my english teacher handed out swiss candy today (from Switzerland). It's really funny, she gives us one every time we answer a question, she's bribing us to think. Whatever, I don't really mind ^_^

Top Ten Reasons Why I'm Not Going To Prom! An awesome Webstore, and Kevjumba creeperness!

I'm a Junior, so you know what that means. PROM. Not for me.
Holy crap, everyone is nuts. I'm not going, but people keep asking me (asking me why I'm not going, not asking me to it). So I've decided to make it easier for people.

So, here you go:

 Top Ten Reasons for No PROMNESS:


10. Well for starters, I can't go even if I wanted to. I'm Jewish, and my family is Shabbat observant. The Sabbath doesn't end till around 9 that night. Which means that if I really did want to go, I'd only be able to make it for the last hour or so, and that's really not worth the struggle. Everyone's tired by then and it's no fun.


9. It's so so so much money! I don't understand why people spend 300 dollars on a dress that they only wear once? I don't have a job during the school year and I'm trying to save up for a nice camera. If I did go, I'd try to find a 40 $ dress, but that's not the point. The point is everyone is nuts!


8. Limos? Limos? Why do you need to spend hundreds of dollars to book a limo for less that a thirty minute ride. Isn't the point of a limo entrance to make a special entrance? If everyone's doing it, how is it special? It's madness. If you want to make a memorable entrance, I think you should ride a horse or motorcycle...


7. Dates. Well it's not like anyone asked me anyways so I really don't feel bad about not going.


6. Also, the fact that I dislike roughly about 80% of my Junior class is not pushing me into going to prom either


5. My mom is anti-prom. Neither my brother or sister went, so that means I'm not going.


4. I suck at "group dancing." It's sort of embarrassing, actually.


3. I'm not really the "prom" type of person. I actually hate like girly dresses. If I did wear a dress, I'd like lolita style, but I can't really pull that off...


2. I'd probably sprain my ankle attempting to dance in high heels.


1. It's just, not for me....I guess.

*Sigh*

It's about 2:40 am. I figured that by deleting my facebook, I'd spend less time procrastinating, and more time being productive, especially since I have like three huge exams that are a little more than two weeks away. Speaking of major exams, I got a 2160 on my most recent practice SAT exam, which is good, but I still want a 2250...that's my goal.

So what have I been actually doing all night? I did a tad of homework, maybe less than a tad. I was watching a lot of YouTube....lot's of WongFuProductionsess. And Kevjumba. If you follow me on twitter, you might realize that I have a borderline obsession with Kevjumba. I feel like if he ever replied to me, it would be the best moment of my life (sad, right?).

So apparently the new name for long division is fun? I actually love my math teacher! This is the second year I've had him and he's so lovable are quirky! He's sort of old, but he still dances during class, telling us old sayings (like the farmer said to the potato: I'll plant you now, I'll dig you up later!)

I also love him for raising my grade an extra point....I only lost 2 points the whole quarter (and two others for not doing a hw when I was out, but he let that slide). Now I have a 99 in math!

And a 98 in APUSH!

Oh well, guess I have to finish my 'fun' soon >.>

Anyways, I got a letter in the mail today...

From Princeton!

Not acceptance or anything...just like "please consider our school...."

I was like "Me? Me? YES!"

I really do want an Ivy education, but I feel like a snob for saying that ;>>

The things that used to mean so much to me

Have gone the way of dinosaurs, hopes and dreams and everything...


Why I'm angry? Several reasons:

1. Just got my second SAT (practice) test scores back. I did worse than my freaking diagnostic and I've been taking a stupid course since the very beginning of March! It's one thing when you work hard and it pays out in the end; a whole different story if it doesn't!
2. Spring break is over, and once again I'm surrounded by idiots. I can't wait for college!
This is a conversation I heard on the bus this morning. Thank goodness I only heard a snippet, I would've shot myself in the face had I heard anymore!

"So then she like, spat the gum out. And she like, had barely even chewed it! And so I was like "Oh my GAWD, you are such a waster!"

3. I still have pink eye and I've been on anti-B's for like ten days?

4. I'm really really behind on classwork

SO yeah, my day= not going well.

I hate school! Get me the *^&^ outta here!!

FINALLY! Some good news!

I had a hell of a few days, visiting colleges and whatnot. I visited Cornell yesterday and I FELL IN LOVE. However, I'm dead tired right now and my bed is looking awfully comfy because between two nights of no sleep, walking more than 10 miles, 5 hours in a car, AND on top of all that taking a 4 HOUR PRACTICE SAT before I got home, I'm POOOOOOPED. So basically the "why I love Cornell and will do anything to get in" post won't be here and now.

I don't have any good pictures of the campus because I somehow forgot my camera *facedesk* so I kept on telling my sister to "Get a picture of that! Get a picture of that!"

And, well,

...she didn't do such a great job.....

lmao.

OH? So the good news?

My art teacher entered it in a regional media art show, competing against all the school districts in my region.

It won 2nd place in the Color Photography category! 

I think it's funny since he chose it and submitted it; and meanwhile I almost deleted it :X

There's a closing ceremony at the end of this month, where I'll be receiving a certificate :D I'm pretty happy since it's the first art award I've won since 5th grade.....which was the last time I actually submitted anything xD

So I just thought I'd share that tidbit!
