Hide behind your half smile, but the truth is so undeniable

....I just came home from a 2 and a half hour SAT class, and I have my last APUSH content test tomorrow, so I probably shouldn't be blogging today...haha

So NAKA tagged me in this. Basically I had to write all of these things down and post it up:

So I tag:

(If I didn't tag you, do it anyways! I tag EVERYONE who reads this ^.^ Yeah, I break all the rules, I'm a rebel)

Include:

1) Your name/blogspot name.

2) Right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous?
3) Favorite letters to write.
4) Least favorite letters to write.
5) Write “The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog.”
6) Write the following words in capital letters:
- CRAB
- HUMOR
- KALEIDOSCOPE
- PAJAMAS
- GAZILLION
7) Write your favorite song lyric.
8) Any special note or picture.

Sooo...New Circa Survive CD out today? Blue Sky Noise.

I'm not downloading until after SAT is over. I'm sure it's great anyways.
I've given up music as well as facebook (inser epic withdrawal here) so that I won't be distracted from studying.

Anyways today was a more fun day. I went bowling in gym class: 3 games for for two dollars = awesome deal. My highest score was a 68. Last time my lowest game was a 36, so I'm improving haha.

PROOF!

In advisory my teacher gave me and some of the other girls in my advisory this scarf from the Haitian dance teacher because we gave up lunch before the Cultural Fair to help her. She's so sweet!

AND my english teacher handed out swiss candy today (from Switzerland). It's really funny, she gives us one every time we answer a question, she's bribing us to think. Whatever, I don't really mind ^_^

Picture taken today: best friends ^.^ (Me=Far right)

Time to study! Ack!

CULTURAL FAIR

Okay so I believe I OWE you guys a legit post! So here goes:

Today was my school's cultural fair! Now I'm in International Club so I forfeit about 20 minutes-the entire period of my advisory prepping for this day!

In the fair, I run the Israeli Booth as well as teach Israeli Dance. We performed 3 times, and although the first one wasn't so hot, the second two performances were great! I uploaded it onto Youtube but it hasn't finished processing yet--when it does, I'll post it!

My booth!

My Dancers :)

Henna!

I also went to the Ethnic Items Booth and bought a few things....a Mohawk necklace for my sister, a purse from India,  a Korean phone charm, and a Chinese Ornament! I also got a pretty sweet Henna Tat (no picture though)

Can I call him Moo-shu? :)

The rest of my birthday was pretty awesome! I got some great presents (which I'm sure I'll post soon) Alice in Wonderland was great, especially in 3D iMAX, I highly recommend it! Oh and we did lose power at night which sucked a little but we managed to have fun!

Anyways Passover starts tonight and I need a nap VERY badly!

What are you asking me for? It's not my goddamn history!

*title from a song*

So I am in a rather chipper mood! It might seem weird, since it's the first day back and I'm supposed to be all miserable and depressed.

So erm, yesterday I had to go downstate to visit my grandparents for my Grandpa's birthday. During the car ride I did my AP homework, and studied SAT vocab the coolest way ever. My English teacher had let me borrow this CD called "Rock the SAT" which is a collection of songs incorporating SAT words. Now I will never forget that "Sycophant" means "ass kisser!"

We went to a Kosher Deli, and the food there was amazing!

I'm talking turkey sandwiches, pickles, potato salad, cole slaw, french fries and Matzah Ball Soup. Did I just make you hungry?

And then we went to my grandparents apartment for dessert!

Anyways, my internal clock was totally screwed up from vacation, so I got about roughly four hours of sleep, and while I did sleep I had this horrible nightmare that freaked me out completely. I was so tired that keeping my eyes open in any sort of light made them tear x[  Nevertheless school was good.

Public Speaking is awesome! I love the class, it's so much fun. It's mainly seniors though, but I swear, some of the funniest things come out of their mouth. My teacher's pretty cool too. He used to be an actor on "All of My Children." He told us that today---cool teacher much?

But the main reason I'm in a good mood is that I had to give an oral presentation/speech for APUSH on "The Jazz Singer" (I know, the day after break. Sucks. And ICUW it was the first "talkie" film released in the 1920's) I've been having nightmares and dread all during break about it. Usually, when I give a speech, I shake so so hard and uncontrollably that I can't even read what I write.

I was shaking before my speech, but even when I delivered it, for some reason, this time I did not shake at all. I did go completely red in the face, but at least I didn't look like an earthquake! My presentation was good too. In the beginning I had a few lines on paper, sort of like subtitles, and I held it up for the class to read like a silent picture, which I thought would make my presentation more interesting!

Lots of comments on the Lourdes picture. The picture I took didn't quite capture how similar we look. It actually scares me to the core how much she looks like me, and her facial expression etc...I never even heard of her since a couple of days ago!

Feel free to Form Spring Me if you want to get to know me better!

My Doppleganger!

Hey I just got back from the mall with my younger sister. I was supposed to go shopping in NYC with my dad, but he hurt his leg, so we stayed local. I bought new liner, headbands, a hat, a shirt, but mostly I want to talk about this kick-A sweatshirt I bought from....Journeys!!

You hook it up to your iPod and it plays the music through the pluggy parts! And it's machine washable! 143 My Life.

Oh and I didn't break my goal of not spending any money. I got it with a gift card to the store I've had since last year! Cha-ching!

Also, this was a little bit frightening, but I found my doppleganger.....My sister sent me this pic this morning:

Not the most flattering picture of me, but she didn't strike the most flattering pose. Haha she looks stoned!

So yesterday was the Super Bowl. Time I spent watching it? Like none.

See my family was going to my sister's apartment in NYC to watch the Super Bowl and I really didn't feel like going. I've been sort of depressed lately, and since I'm scared of being alone in the end I decided to tag along.

I haven't gone into much detail about it here, but my family is Orthodox (Jews) so we have special eating restrictions, and daily restrictions blah blah. Anyways my sister lives in a very Jewish section of the city, and there is Kosher food everywhere! I could eat whatever I wanted! So.....I bought sushi for the first time in forever because it is nearly impossible to find Kosher sushi where I live. My sister bought a shizload of candy.

Rugeluch, Russian/Jewish Pastry. They are delicious.

I can eat all of this^^ Haha

Afterwards we walked to this huge Jewish book sale. It was like a traveling Border's. I was amazed by the amount of books.

I considered purchasing this one

What can I say, we Jews love our bagels!

^haha basically defines my life

Back at the apartment we watched RENT for 40 minutes. My dad fell asleep so we played this prank on him that he had slept through the game and that it was time to leave. He fell for it. Yes, good times.

I was freaking exhausted today. I got four hours of sleep. I came home, watched a movie, took a nap, ate dinner, and now I'm going to bed. Yay!

Edit: I've been getting some comments on the mentos. If you look at the picture there is some Hebrew lettering in the top left of the package. I posted it because the mentos at this shop in particular were kosher, while in general they're not.

ps: check this one out! moebio.com/loveispatient/

I Wonder What Happened to the Boy in the Lighthouse.....

^^What I Inspire to be Like ^.^
It just makes me feel so freeee

Whoooooo (my version of a sigh of relief)....

Three exams down, one to go! On Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon I had to take an English regents test which is required by NY State (I hate this state!!!). Two days spent in a gym for 2-3 hours each day. Torture!! For the test you have to write two essays each day. Tuesday we had to listen to a speech and write an essay on the benefits of public parks, and then read an essay and chart on ORGANIC FARMING and write an essay on why it's a viable career option. Yes, I am killing myself with AP and honors classes so I can grow up to become an organic farmer and work at Wal-Mart! Wheee! I think it was more of a brainwashing session than an actual test of our abilities.

Then yesterday we had to do a literature comparison and write a unified essay on life changes using both texts.... One was a poem about a boy turning ten (I have to admit I sort of liked it):

The whole idea of it makes me feel
like I'm coming down with something,
something worse than any stomach ache
or the headaches I get from reading in bad light--
a kind of measles of the spirit,
a mumps of the psyche,
a disfiguring chicken pox of the soul.

You tell me it is too early to be looking back,
but that is because you have forgotten
the perfect simplicity of being one
and the beautiful complexity introduced by two.
But I can lie on my bed and remember every digit.
At four I was an Arabian wizard.
I could make myself invisible
by drinking a glass of milk a certain way.
At seven I was a soldier, at nine a prince.

But now I am mostly at the window
watching the late afternoon light.
Back then it never fell so solemnly
against the side of my tree house,
and my bicycle never leaned against the garage
as it does today,
all the dark blue speed drained out of it.

(via weheartit)

This is the beginning of sadness, I say to myself,
as I walk through the universe in my sneakers.
It is time to say good-bye to my imaginary friends,
time to turn the first big number.

It seems only yesterday I used to believe
there was nothing under my skin but light.
If you cut me I could shine.
But now when I fall upon the sidewalks of life,
I skin my knees. I bleed.

Billy Collins

And the other passage was a short story about a boy from Italy befriending a lighthouse keeper in Wales, and then returning the next summer to not be recognized by him....it was weird. The funniest part was that that evening when I went on Facebook there were all these groups about the regents stories the same day we took the test. Internet makes information travel fast. Anyways the groups are hilarious: Organic Farming is MY career choice! -_-, your life doesn't change at 10 & what is that boy doing in a lighthouse !?, The Light House Keeper Got Alzheimer's to name a few, and there are more constantly springing up....each with wall posts on what the boy and the lighthouse keeper "did" together xD

And finally, the final essay I had to write was a critical lens (evaluate a quote using two works of literature). The quote was pretty easy---whosoever does wrong, wrongs himself. I used the Crucible and the Kite Runner, but *facepalm* I forgot who the author was and we were supposed to include that. I talked to my ex-English teacher today in the library and she said she read my essay and it was "good" but other people messed up and wrote about karma, instead of characterization like they were supposed to....rant rant rant, I know, I'm sorry x_x

(via icanread.tumblr.com)

SO I had math and AP....math was mainly guessing for me since I switched into the class half-way through the semester....After math we had two hours before our second test and so both of the entire AP blocks were in the library....we were at every table group pow-wow studying and outlining last-minute essays (she ended up giving us the easy DBG, TG). 3/4 in I just gave up and sat with my friends. The test itself went....okay...... :/

Oh God, isn't that true?

Let's do it!!

Finding Nemo && Backlogging

Ew ew ew. So my vacation officially ended and now I'm back in school. What horrible sins have I committed to deserve this punishment? I swear there is nothing worse than getting on the bus in the morning and having the seat be so cold it shocks your ass. I know I haven't updated in a couple of days and so I have a backlog of photos to share. But ehh, since I'm too lazy to upload all of them I'll just give a brief overview. Haha.

Basically a lot of shots similar to this for New Years

Tooooo many pictures of my kittens.

Some of my stuff.

Cool poster I bought for like 5 dollars in the EWB at the Mall. Came with the frame. It says Courage in Chinese, but I don't know what else it says.

I celebrated my last night of freedom by ripping out the 350 something vocabulary flash-cards from my sisters old SAT book, and have been leafing through them all day.  During advisory, lunch, and anywhere else I had it out, people would come by me, pick one up, and then either say they don't know it, or laugh at me for having it in my pile "You don't know what 'esoteric' means? Haha don't you speak English?" Shut the hell up. I don't know what it means which is why I'm using flash-cards. Don't make fun.

In photoshop we continued to give our tutorials. I volunteered to do mine first, before someone else did the same was as me again. There were also some cool ones--in one we made iPod people. I forgot to save it to my jump so I can't post it now, but here are some other things I made:

(kinda messed up on the hand but I didn't have time to fix it)

(me as Rachel from GLEE)

(Lomo on a pic I took of Boston Harbor)

(vintage effect)

(sketch effect)

(Initial Quilt)

Heritage project

These weren't all done today of course! Its just stuff that I've been working on. I also have this picture, which I'm using as my 'Image'

But the absolute worst part of my day is right now. As I am typing this I am locked in my room while my parents aren't home, while three strangers are inside working on my house. Sketchy, right? Apparently I wasn't "supposed" to come home at the normal time, but I was never told otherwise. They changed my locks so my key didn't work, and they let me through the garage. My mom told me to lock myself in my room--and I kinda have to pee, but one of the guys is working on the bathroom. Shit. Tomorrow is going to be even worse (although hopefully they'll be gone by the time I come home). They're de-carpeting my bedroom, so I have to pack ALL of my stuff up so they can move the furniture and stuff. My house has turned into a war zone. My kittens are upstairs in my brothers old room but I'm too afraid to trek through the house with a bunch of strangers and no parents. I mean, that's how kids get kidnapped--or maybe I'm just being paranoid.

Speaking of my kittens, we had quite a fiasco on Saturday. I woke up bleary-eyed around 1:30 in the afternoon. The first thing my mom tells me when I get out of my room is: Nemo is missing!
Me: Whaaaa--huhuhu whaaaat? (I'm not very quick first thing in the morning)
Mom: We've looked for nearly a half hour straight--we can't find him anywhere!
*Immediately snaps to action looking in cabinets, nooks, crannys, INSIDE THE OVEN, in the basement, closet EVERYWHERE*
It took us nearly an hour and a half to find my baby. My mom kept on saying "I think he's in the couch," but we all poo-poo'd that-- that's ridiculous. She was fricking RIGHT.  My dad lifted the couch and we could see Nemo's favorite fish toy dangling off it, so my dad turned the couch upside down. I saw movement and his paws and I was so thankful he was alive. Nemo was INSIDE the couch, chilling with the springs and wires. Our couch is 23 years old, and the bottom is ripped, so he was able to climb up through one of the holes. We ended up ripping apart the bottom of the couch, but he still wouldn't get out, and it was too difficult to pick him up without him hitting his head so we attempted to bait him out--took about 15 minutes. We finally attracted him by bringing close his bed, and he hopped right out. We had to tape up our couch with mailing tape and duct tape!
At least Nemo lived up to his name. The irony slays me.

Imma do my homework now (damn).
Keep your lives Sui Generis and Sonny(?)
Sorry I just can't write that with a straight face.

Peace OUT
