Purim Festivities

So in my last post I talked about making special cookies (Hamantaschen) for a holiday called Purim, and I've been out and about all weekend celebrating (leaving me not to much time for blogger and the huge pile of homework left for me. It's nearly 6! AHHHHH!)

So Saturday night I dressed up as a nerd, because costumes are part of the holiday. Like the suspenders?
My sis went as Hermione Granger

And my dad went as a NYC mugger.

Nice one dad.

We went to a small party---I was sort of bored there, only one other kid my age.

At least they had broccoli quiche.

mhhmmm.

Then I stayed up till 4 am attempting to do my psych assignment. I gave up halfway through. Then I woke up at 11:30 to finish, but I had to leave in the middle to go to a Purim Carnival

My day today was a tad more exciting.

My mom knew I was tired/grumpy so she took me to Dunkin' Donuts. I always have a dilemma when I go there. See, I only like the cold "coolatta" drinks, but I feel like a total tool ordering a coolatta in mid-winter, when we just received a major snow-storm. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? And then I feel like a double tool because I know the people who work there from my school--so not only do I know I'm a tool, but they do as well.

Passed by a Hollywood Video. This sign made me LOL:
WTF? How can they even put that up?

At the Carnival they did a Megillah reading (they recite the story of the holiday in Hebrew from a scroll).

When that was over, I watched my parents get a CARICATURE done.

Then I got one done as well with my sister:

Getting a caricature done is one of the most awkward things ever. The people are paid to accent everything bad about your features. I was mortified sitting in that chair!

Luckily for us it didn't come out too bad!

I kinda want to make a new banner out of this ^_^

They also had a bounce house, cotton candy, food, different booths, laser tag etc. It was a lot of fun!

I squee'd when I saw the "sushi"
YUM.

"Profesional" Hamantaschen
Hate to be a creeper, but the guy in the brown shirt looked like Edward Cullen!!

Ohkay, I'm a creeper

Random costume people. The guy in the back was Ursula!

So now I'm doing more psych, then math, then English. Holy craps, it's 6:30.

Adios!

Hamantaschen && Snow Day Numero Dos

Shoooo I arrived home today to a wonderful surprise! 2 new followers! Yay I love when that happens ^_^

Yesterday was a...SNOW DAY!!!! WOOHOO! Sorry for the lack of postage though, I didn't really do anything interesting during the day except watch "Young Frankenstein" and then some episodes of "My Life as Liz" which is a really good show (surprisingly for MTV!) It's basically about your "I hate every stupid blond in my school" person and her life, so uh, fun to watch!

The holiday of Purim is fast approaching (this weekend!). It's basically a fun holiday where you dress up in a costume, hear "the Book of Esther" read, and exchange food baskets! Yes it is a very awesome holiday! I sort of procrastinated on a costume, so I am going to be a Panda with my handy-dandy hat :D

Which brings me to the part of the post where people will actually read! Last night, I baked some Hamantaschen, which are a special food for the holiday. They are pastry cookies with filling in the middle, and then folded into triangles!

That was my tray! Sort of a fail -_-

My sister's perfect tray

I know they look sort of unappealing, but that's because they're stuffed with filling. I'm talking chocolate chip raspberry, and apple-marshmallow fluff!

Ehh, don't judge me!

^^My sister's. Sigh. Why must she one-up me?

Chocolate chip, prune, apricot, raspberry, apple, and mallow fluff as fillings! Yum.

How to make one!
(Look up the recipe online, this is just the architecture of them ^o^)

1.) Roll dough out and use a cup to cut out a circle. Place a dab of desired filling in the middle.

2.) Fold the left side over

3.) Fold the right side over

4.) Fold the remaining side over

Not too bad eh? But for some reason I just couldn't do a quality job!

Oh well, they still taste delicious!

Outta the oven!

And then I watched Forrest Gump. Awesome Movie.

Day well spent? I think yes!

Today was pretty dull. Three quizzes/tests (did I mention I love my life?) I've also been fasting allll day--haven't eaten or drinked at all ;>.> (part of the holiday) Only 1 more hour to go...

So....

Hungry....

AHHHHHHHH

Anyways, I jumped on the band-wagon and made a Twitter so feel free to follow me (even though my Tweets are protected. It still doesn't make much sense to me but whatever.

What are you asking me for? It's not my goddamn history!

*title from a song*

So I am in a rather chipper mood! It might seem weird, since it's the first day back and I'm supposed to be all miserable and depressed.

So erm, yesterday I had to go downstate to visit my grandparents for my Grandpa's birthday. During the car ride I did my AP homework, and studied SAT vocab the coolest way ever. My English teacher had let me borrow this CD called "Rock the SAT" which is a collection of songs incorporating SAT words. Now I will never forget that "Sycophant" means "ass kisser!"

We went to a Kosher Deli, and the food there was amazing!

I'm talking turkey sandwiches, pickles, potato salad, cole slaw, french fries and Matzah Ball Soup. Did I just make you hungry?

And then we went to my grandparents apartment for dessert!

Anyways, my internal clock was totally screwed up from vacation, so I got about roughly four hours of sleep, and while I did sleep I had this horrible nightmare that freaked me out completely. I was so tired that keeping my eyes open in any sort of light made them tear x[  Nevertheless school was good.

Public Speaking is awesome! I love the class, it's so much fun. It's mainly seniors though, but I swear, some of the funniest things come out of their mouth. My teacher's pretty cool too. He used to be an actor on "All of My Children." He told us that today---cool teacher much?

But the main reason I'm in a good mood is that I had to give an oral presentation/speech for APUSH on "The Jazz Singer" (I know, the day after break. Sucks. And ICUW it was the first "talkie" film released in the 1920's) I've been having nightmares and dread all during break about it. Usually, when I give a speech, I shake so so hard and uncontrollably that I can't even read what I write.

I was shaking before my speech, but even when I delivered it, for some reason, this time I did not shake at all. I did go completely red in the face, but at least I didn't look like an earthquake! My presentation was good too. In the beginning I had a few lines on paper, sort of like subtitles, and I held it up for the class to read like a silent picture, which I thought would make my presentation more interesting!

Lots of comments on the Lourdes picture. The picture I took didn't quite capture how similar we look. It actually scares me to the core how much she looks like me, and her facial expression etc...I never even heard of her since a couple of days ago!

Feel free to Form Spring Me if you want to get to know me better!
